Maai Mahiu, Kenya
Grade 6
I do not know my father. My mother has physical and intellectual disabilities. The left side of her body is partially paralyzed. Because of her physical limitations, she believes that the only way she can survive and care for my sister and I, is to sell herself to men. When we relocated to Maai Mahiu town, we were hosted by a well-wisher for awhile. Now we rent a single room house and my mom is accommodating men at any time. I was thankful when my sister, Eunice, and I were given a safe place to stay at Maai Mahiu Children’s Home.
