My Story

George comes from a very isolated and distressing home life, generations of his family have dealt with homelessness. His parents separated when he was very young and his mother deserted the family with three of his half siblings. George has not seen them since and does not know where they are now. His father passed away January 2026 after a long battle with diabetes and HIV. His grandmother has struggled to provide for and care for George while also previously caring for his ailing father. George has gone without food, schooling, proper hygiene, clean clothes, medical care, and safety. He was rescued to Mahiga Children's Home and is adjusting to this safe and caring environment, where his physical needs are needs are being met. He is attending school, church and Sunday School with his brothers and sisters at the children's home and receiving the love, attention and support that will help him to overcome the trauma of his past and give him a promising future.
