Brian and his younger brother were born outside wedlock after their mother had separated from her husband. Brian’s mother separated with her husband in 2001 due to persistent domestic violence, alcoholism and neglect of family responsibility by her husband. Brian’s father is unknown. Brian’s mother, who has a total of six children, is unable to find employment, and makes a meager income through selling charcoal. This is produced illegally in government protected forests. Brian’s overall health and hygiene was very poor and he was consistently sick. Brian’s mother is not in a position to physically, emotionally, or financially care for him.
