David comes from a large family of seven children that broke apart when his mother was diagnosed with cancer. His father couldn't handle the diagnosis, leaving his sick mother to care for all of the children. As she ailed more and more, the children would leave school to care for her, eventually causing David to leave school altogether. He and his siblings would care for her and search for food to no avail. David regularly would go days with out eating. David is joining the home to receive stable care and protection, freedom to be a child for the first time in a long time and a chance to process the trauma of his mother's cancer battle. He will now have regular meals, access schooling again and the gift of worshiping in church again.
