I do not know my father. My mother is not married and has an intellectual disability. When people gave us food she would throw it away and we would go hungry. At night she would force me and my siblings to sleep outside. We live with my grandfather who is deaf and mute. I was infested with jiggers which are sand fleas that burrow under toes and fingers to lay eggs. I had trouble walking. When I was 7 years old and came to live at Mahiga Children’s Home with my two sisters (Caroline and Zipporah).
