My Story

Fidelis and two of her siblings were taken into Chariots care as it was found that their mother was not able to provide proper care for them. Their mother, herself was a victim of abuse and neglect. She is a person with an intellectual disability, who had been taken advantage of many times, resulting in multiple children and a positive HIV diagnosis. When the situation came to light, Fidelis' father, who also experiences an intellectual disability, was taken to jail. Their mother did not have capacity to care for the children, resulting in the children going hungry and not having access to school. Fidelis' grandmother tried to care for the children and their mother, but she was unable to meet the great need. Now at the Chariots children's home, Fidelis is experiencing a steady home, consistent care, educational support through tutoring to catch up to her peers. Fidelis is a social young girl, enjoying church, new friendships, and consistent steady care.
