This August, I have the incredible honor of traveling to Kenya with a small but powerful team of 19 dedicated professionals and students. Together, we will work alongside the caregivers at the Chariots for Hope supported orphanages, six children’s homes and two baby homes, that provide love, safety, and hope to more than 800 children who were orphaned or abandoned.
The Kenyan staff pour their hearts into these children every day. They are doing extraordinary work with limited resources and are eager for new ideas to help their most vulnerable children fully participate in learning, play, and daily life. Our team is made up of therapists, nurses, mental health professionals, and educators. We will come not only to share skills, but to listen, learn, and stand beside them.
This journey is deeply personal for me. Years ago, I lived and worked in southern Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer and teacher. The generosity, warmth, and strength of the people I met changed me forever. I learned then, and continue to believe, that when we show up for one another, we are all transformed.
