Dear Friends, Family, and Community Members,
My name is Maya Heins, and I am truly excited to share that this August I will be traveling to Kenya for two weeks as part of a medical and educational mission experience through Chariots of Hope in partnership with Gwynedd Mercy University’s Occupational Therapy program.
During this trip, our team will work alongside local leaders, clinicians, and educators to provide community health support, health education, and basic medical resources. We will also have the opportunity to learn directly from Kenyan professionals and communities, gaining a deeper understanding of global health needs while contributing to sustainable care and education efforts.
This experience is especially meaningful to me as a developing occupational therapy practitioner because it will allow me to serve in a compassionate, culturally-respectful way while supporting individuals and families in underserved areas. I believe every person, regardless of location, deserves access to meaningful, ethical, and empowering healthcare.
To make this opportunity possible, I am working to raise $3,500, which will cover travel expenses, lodging, and medical and educational supplies used during outreach. If you feel moved to support this mission, any contribution—large or small—brings me one step closer to serving abroad and making a positive impact.
Ways to donate:
• Venmo: maya-heins or directly on this fundraising page!
(or contact me directly for additional options)
I am deeply grateful for your encouragement, generosity, and support. I look forward to sharing photos, stories, and what I learn when I return. Thank you for helping make this journey possible and for supporting global health education and outreach.
With appreciation,
Maya Heins
