Hagen's Mission Trip to Kenya

A Personal Invitation

This summer, I get to take Isaiah, Mikaela, and Anamarie with me to Kenya through Chariots for Hope and honestly, it feels really special to even say that out loud.

As a mom, there are certain moments you hope your kids will experience… moments that shape how they see the world, their faith, and other people. This feels like one of those moments.

This trip is deeply personal for us. It connects to our journey as a family, to what we believe, and to the kind of life we are trying to now live together.

We’ll be spending our time with children who have walked through loss, instability, and hardship in ways most of us can’t fully imagine and yet carry so much joy and resilience.

My kids also know what it means to walk through loss. Not in the same way, but in a way that has shaped them. This trip feels like a meaningful and grounding step for us, a chance to serve from a place of understanding and compassion, and also an opportunity to see beyond ourselves.

My prayer is that as a family we get to serve side by side, learn deeply, and be reminded of what truly matters.

This page is simply about making it possible for Isaiah, Mikaela, and Anamarie to be part of that experience.

What We Will Be Doing

For two weeks, we will be living and serving alongside children and caregivers in two Chariots homes in Kenya.

During our time there, we will:

• Help with Vacation Bible School (VBS) for the children
• Support caregivers in their daily routines and responsibilities
• Participate in hands-on service projects within the homes and community
• Build meaningful relationships with the children and staff

Listen, serve, and love well.

About Chariots for Hope

Chariots for Hope is a Christian organization dedicated to caring for orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya. Chariots serve more than 850 children and young adults across eight communities walking with each child from early childhood all the way through college.

Through loving caregivers, Christian discipleship, and long-term support, Chariots cares for each child’s physical, health, spiritual, and educational needs giving them the stability and guidance they need to grow, flourish, and reach their God-given potential.

Motivated by faith in Jesus and the call of Isaiah 1:17 to defend the oppressed and take up the cause of the fatherless, Chariots serves children who have experienced loss, poverty, and instability while also helping them grow into confident, purposeful young adults who know Christ and are ready to shape their future.

This is a mission that feels very close to our hearts.

The cost is $3,800 per person covering

• International travel
• In-country transportation
• Food and accommodation
• Participation in ministry and service activities
