In Memory of Ardell Brackley

Ardell Lillian Brackley (Covill), of Milford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her home on March 21, 2026, at the age of 77. She was the beloved wife of Rufus Allen Brackley, Jr., with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.

Ardell was born on February 7, 1949, in Providence, Rhode Island, to William E. and Ardell L. Covill. She was raised in Warwick, Rhode Island, where she graduated from Pilgrim High School. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and at the age of 51 she received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Rhode Island College. Ardell dedicated her career as a social worker supporting “her kids” and their families throughout the adoption and foster care journey.

Ardell was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and was a member of many choirs and choruses throughout her life. She was also a talented seamstress, known for making her own wedding dress as well as many special occasion dresses for her daughters. She was a proud Girl Scout throughout her childhood and into adulthood, attending the National Roundup in 1965, where she met her lifelong best friend, Debbie Brody.

Above all, Ardell’s greatest joy was her family and friends. She is survived by her children: Sean; Tina and her husband, Tim McDonald; Rebecca (Becky); and Rachel and her husband, Mark Wakeman. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Luke and Molly, and her bonus great-grandchildren, Owen and Russell. In addition, she is survived by her brothers-in-law, Allen, Neil and Charles, and her sisters-in-law, Beth, Joyce, and Karen, along with her bonus grandchildren, many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth; her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Rufus and Dorris Brackley; and her brother, Dana Covill.

A service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Chariots for Hope, 1601 Limekiln Pike, Dresher, PA 19025.
