2026 Gwynedd Mercy University Service-Learning Trip

It is with great delight that I share the exciting news that we will be returning to Kenya with a medical mission team in August, 2026. This service-learning experience includes an interprofessional team of students and healthcare providers, offering training, education, and support to caregivers, staff, and community members. Our team consists of 3 occupational therapists, a physical therapist, a speech-language pathologist, a special education teacher, a nurse, a pastor/ mental health counselor, and 7 MOT students.

We will be partnering with caregivers from Chariots for Hope children's homes, healthcare workers at a local clinic, allied health faculty and students at a local university, teachers at local private schools, and educators/ therapists at a school for children with special needs.

Our training focus will include important topics such as women’s health, prenatal/ postnatal care for women and children, child development within the first year of life, play and language development, positioning and feeding supports, and strategies to promote overall well-being. We will build community capacity by bridging home and community through collaboration among Chariots for Hope caregivers, local healthcare providers, university faculty and students, and educators.
